$0.00

Independence Day is undoubtedly a critical one in American History, but it is also fraught with complex history that is often skipped or misrepresented. On July 4, 1776, freedom and independence did come for some in our country. It paved the way for the development of the nation that we know today. But that freedom and independence did not come for everyone, and in fact it was at the expense of Black, brown, and Indigenous communities who had already known their own freedoms before having them stripped away through the violence and genocide of colonization. This learning guide provides some multi-sensory ways of exploring the true history Independence Day and the American flag. It is an invitation for us all to reimagine new ways to acknowledge, commemorate, and make our own meaning out of this complicated history.
